Habari!
Tim has been surveying the hail damage to the banana orchard and field crops. On August 29, Naroosura suffered a heavy hail storm where the hail was several inches thick on the ground. The Sisters had to scoop up the hail stones to clear a path. The banana leaves were shredded, several of the fruit trees were stripped bare and crops ready for harvest were ruined. The maize will be still be harvested but only expecting 2 bags and the rest will be fed to the livestock. The newly planted field of maize is making improvements and growing. The banana orchard will recover but there will be a delay in production. The fruit trees will bloom again.
Life’s Heart has been blessed with food, supplies and medical assistance for the villages and Tim was in the villages on Friday and Saturday. On Friday in Nkoisusu, 168 households came to receive food and supplies and 260+ students came to receive oral Vitamin A. Plus there were several babies and small children that received vaccinations. It was a cold and cloudy day – only 57*. Everyone was wrapped in their shukas. Such a colorful sight! On Saturday in Morloo village, there were 167 households waiting to receive food and supplies. The medical team provided vaccinations and treatments for those in need. It was another cold day with showers in the evening. Everyone patiently waits her/his turn and are very grateful for the food/supplies/medical assistance.
Asante sana (Thank you very much) for your prayers and support of Life’s Heart. Tim is in good health and is being well taken care of with “our” family and friends in Kenya.
